I've finally decided to take the big step and start working exclusively with open source programs, starting with Ubuntu, which I recently installed instead of my "all life" windows.
It was quite hard at the beginning, but I'm really happy right now. I've been looking for substitutes for photoshop, dreamweaver, lightroom and illustrator to be able to get on with my work.
So here come my recommendations!
GIMP: Nice, very good, and complete open sourde photoshop. I've been browsing the menu and it's pretty much the same. Not so pretty, but it works!
Rawstudio: Pretty much like lightroom, you can work with RAW (as far as I know, it can read, Canon, Nikon and Olympus) and has a few more interesting features. I haven't tried to work directly connected from my camera, but I don't think I'll have any problem with it.
Inkscape Vector Graphics Editor: I think it's not as complet as Illustrator is, but it's quite good.
Bluefish editor: Probably the weakest of all. It lack mosts of the Dreamweaver features (like the double screen with the html and the design) but it's not very hard to learn how it works, so it's not a bad option to choose this one.
This are my actual options, but I'd like to know if anyone knows something better (specially any web design program) to check if it's ok...
Hope you liked it!
